About BETHANY f.g.c

It was in Landover, Maryland when the Lord instructed Evangelist Lelia Boyd-Wims to move to South Carolina. In obedience and by faith she followed God’s directions. It wasn’t until evangelist Wims moved to South Carolina that God spoke to her to begin her work. Being led by God, she started having Bible study in her home with her children and Green family in October of 1974 as her heart’s desire was to see souls saved. She then began witnessing from door to door in the neighborhood which resulted in the Pearson’s, Gladys Lawton, and Brother Bruce Gardner accepting Jesus Christ as Lord. As evangelist Wims continue teaching the word of God, the Lord advised her that there was a need for a more significant place of worship as the Lord added members. The congregation moved to the garage of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Palmer. Soon the present site (692 Glenzell Road, Orangeburg, SC) was purchased and a building was erected with the assistance of the late Clarence Perry, Sr.

The Lord has blessed the church with a number of faithful, dedicated saints which included 15 ministers and five deacons. The Lord continues adding to the church according to Acts 2:47. As the years passed, Pastor Wims had a vision for work in the surrounding areas of Orangeburg; hence the Lord allowed her to begin a Bible study in St. George, St. Matthews, and North, SC. Pastor Wims trained and assigned the associated ministries to teach in these areas. Also, the Lord directed Pastor Wims to start soul Outreach Ministries to meet the spiritual needs of those in outlying areas. These included the radio and television broadcasts and jail and hospital outreach ministries whereby souls were saved, healed, set free, and delivered.

In 1994, Pastor Willie Eady and Thomas Owens felt led to ask Pastor Wims to serve as their overseer, and it was at that time she was ordained as an Apostle by the late Apostle Nehemiah Rhinehart Sr. In 1997, Mozella B. Isaac was anointed and set apart as Assistant Pastor. Later Elder Boyd was anointed and set apart to serve as assistant to Mozella B. Isaac.

In July 2004, God called our beloved Apostle to rest from labor, but we are continuing in the things of God. God has blessed us with faithful leadership, and we follow them as they follow Christ.

In 2011, Minister Trudy S. Boyd felt the leading of the Lord to begin a church in the Aiken, SC area where she serves as the Pastor. The church is an extension of the ministry started by the late Apostle Lelia B. Wims and is thus named, Bethany Full Gospel Church #2. The Lord has prospered the church and is adding souls according to Acts 2:47.

We endeavor to remain faithful to the ministry that God has established. The church was established with The Boyd's, Sister Brenda, Sister Roma & Judy Williams, and Sister Brenda Mance.
